Sharing Stories – Joan Giroux

This program creates a space within the exhibition for dialogue and community. Come to the 2nd floor lounge area to listen to personal stories of individuals who have experienced HIV/AIDS in different ways. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions, share their own experiences or just join the group to learn more about HIV/AIDS. This week’s speaker is Joan Giroux is an interdisciplinary artist, activist and educator, and teaches at Columbia College Chicago. For this program, Joan will share stories of her friend, artist Matthew Ranger, and their time in Berlin in the late 1980s, a time when living with HIV and AIDS had not yet been made possible.
